Is it safe to meet people on the internet?Internet dating is as safe (if not safer) as meeting people elsewhere (clubs, bars etc). With Checkmate Introductions you get to vet members before meeting them; this is something you can't do in a bar, club, etc!
Be careful what information you give out on the site. Do not give out personal details such as your full name, telephone number or email address until you have spent time chatting online, and feel completely comfortable with the other member.
Don't rush to meet members in real life. Get to know other members well before agreeing to meet them. Consider arranging to talk on the phone before agreeing to meet up. Don't give your address to anyone you haven't already met in person and only then when you feel completely comfortable with them.
If you do decide to meet someone, meet in a safe public place and tell a friend where you are going.

You should check that the firewall popup killer is turned off. What is a "one-to-one2?When in the chat room you have the ability to corrospond with one member for a private chat, instead of all members that are using the chat roomWhy does it sometimes take a while to get a reply to my one-to-one?The one-to-one screen refreshes every few seconds to see whether the other member has responded, but other pages within the site do not, so members only receive notification of your one-to-one when they change page. Also, some members may not respond at all, or may respond slowly (perhaps because they are typing a long response, or because they type slowly, or because they are still on a previous page, etc). How can I turn off the one-to-one facility? It's not possible to turn the one-to-one off independently. However, if the recipient leaves the site and has their profile removed, then their mail is automatically deleted. Why hasn't my mail been read?Mail can only be read by other members with full membership, so it may be that the recipients of your mail are not currently full members and have chosen not to join to read your mail, or just that they haven't been online in the last week or so. Some people come online only intermittently. However, everybody is made aware when they have been sent mail through an e-mail alert that we send out. We recommend perseverance. How can I block a member? When viewing a members crirtia, there is a blocking button. Once you have clicked this button, they will appear in you "Manage Contacts" section along with the prefered members that you've chosen to add to your contact listWill I know if another member has blocked me?You won't. If somebody doesn't reply to your messages they are either: Not interested, their subscription has elapsed or they have blocked you. Please don't be offended as you have many other members to corrospond with. Can you unblock a member, or pass a message on to someone who has blocked me?It is against site policy for us to intercede on the part of a member who is trying to contact someone who has blocked them. If one member blocks another because, for example, they have been made to feel uncomfortable, then it would only add to their discomfort if they felt the blocked member was trying to circumvent the blocking system.
